Harriet Who?
Yawn. Or, rather, you've got to be kidding me.
Charitable read: Don't ever say that Bush doesn't believe in affirmative action.
Uncharitable read: Another crony gets elevated beyond her demonstrated level of competence.
Ed is disappointed, too.
MORE: I have to say that this looks more like a "Julie Myers" situation than a serious pick. Perhaps Bush has decided that the Dems are going to filibuster the next nominee, no matter what, and that this pick is simply cannon fodder?
STILL MORE: Hugh Hewitt calls it a solid B+ appointment, and tells the rest of us not to worry. Hugh is a smart guy, so I'll take his advice into account.
UPDATE: Perhaps we should consider helping MoveOn.org tank this nomination.
I'm sitting here, on my conservative hands, wondering who she is. Has the President caved and passed over many known conservative choices in order to avoid a fight, which he is going to get anyway unless he appoints a Kennedy protege.
At this moment, I don't like this.
